Julie A. Hollingsworth PhD, LCDC, ADC III has been specializing in addiction counseling for over a decade and uses different treatment modalities to assist people in moving into their truest selves. Addiction is a word that makes people move into denial very easily. There is more addiction in our society than most are willing or ready to deal with. Addiction is something that one does that causes some kind of negative consequence to their life. Addiction is about internal energy and the imbalance of that energy, energy work is part of what I assist people with to get beneath the addictive tendencies and see what is being avoided with addiction. Julie also offers Equine Enhanced Counseling this involves working with a horse in counseling which opens up a different realm of communication. With a horse people are able to allow vulnerability and openness; this is because there is a trusting in the animal in places they have been unable to trust before._ When working with a horse, the horse being an animal of prey, will see the Authentic Self, not the Adapted Self that has been created by abuse, unresolved issues, unmet needs, addictions, and codependency._ Truly being with nature is quite different for most and it asks of us that we remember our authenticity, something most of us have lost along the way while becoming unconscious in the Adapted Self._ Equine Assisted Counseling will assist in the process of getting back to who you are on the inside and show you how to live from that which is the Authentic Self._ The Authentic Self is no threat to horses; in fact authenticity is what horses do best.
